Greetings! Bonjour! Guten Tag! Buongiorno! Buenos dias! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to G.W. Carver Middle School, Center for International Education. Our international school has been a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, a Merit School of Distinction, and recognized as an "A" school by the State of Florida. Our academic programs strive to raise student achievement to world class standards by providing rigorous curricula that emphasize student-centered learning, competency in a foreign language, and training in technology. G.W. Carver Middle School is the only public middle school recognized by the French, German, Italian and Spanish governments and accredited by France and Spain. All students at G.W. Carver Middle School study French, German, Italian or Spanish and that includes an in-depth study of culture and/or humanities for each student’s chosen language. Our students enjoy a true middle school experience complete with clubs, after school sports, and exciting field trips. G.W. Carver Middle School strives to create a friendly, multi-ethnic environment that encourages student growth in self-esteem, self-discipline, and respectful understanding of different peoples and cultures. This environment provides an experience that prepares our students to meet tomorrow's challenges in the international arena. The faculty and staff are personally and professionally committed to our students. They provide students with outstanding educational opportunities and services. It is my goal to maintain G.W. Carver Middle School's outstanding achievements, and with the faculty and staff, I invite you to visit our school.
Monday Message
Good Morning George Washington Carver Middle School Families!
Â
We are happy to report that we had a great first week! The Power of One to create a Global Impact was evident in our classrooms and in our hallways as students, teachers and staff navigated all of the wonder and joy of the first days of school.
Â
As we get ready for our first FULL week we would like to make a few suggestions for your child's safety and wellbeing.
Â
Arrival and Dismissal: It is highly recommended that all students not riding a bus be dropped off and picked up by parents inside the drop off and pick up circles at Loquat or Lincoln Drive. Both pick up areas are completely clear before 4:20pm. If you do not wish to wait in line we suggest you arrive at 4:15 pm and you will experience a very quick pick up. The Loquat Circle will close at 4:20pm and all students will be directed to Lincoln Drive. Students will be supervised in the Lincoln Drive dismissal area until 4:50pm. Please make every effort to drop off and pick your child up ON CAMPUS. It is not safe to have students walk off campus and meet parents at another location. Only students riding a bus may enter or exit through Jefferson Street.
Â
Transportation: We are still having some small delays with bus transportation. If by the end of this first full week you continue to experience difficulties with transportation please reach out by email to Mr. Rivers (srivers06@dadeschools.net) or Ms. LLopiz (ygonzalez011@dadechools.net) for assistance.
Â
Devices: If your child has their own laptop or IPAD they may bring it to school. It will be up to each teacher to instruct students as to the use of their individual device in each class. Students may only use wireless devices under the direct supervision of teachers. No student should be using IPADS or cellphones on campus before school. They may use communication devices after the bell rings at 3:50pm. Any student in violation of wireless communication device policies will be disciplined according to the CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT.
Â
If your child needs to check out a laptop from the school the procedures are delineated below.
Â
STEP 1: PURCHASE YOUR BREAK/FIX PLAN & SIGN THE AGREEMENT FOR STUDENT USE
In order to safeguard your device, we highly encourage that you purchase the break/fix plan for your device. Policies are tied to the student, not the device, therefore, there is no need to record the device serial number. The cost of the break/fix plan is often 18 times less the price of a total replacement. It’s a wise investment!
STEP 2: GET STARTED
To Proceed, the M-DCPS student will need to authenticate using their studentID@students.
Parents should ask for their child to sit with them when purchasing the Break/Fix plan and review the responsibility that students take on when checking out an M-DCPS mobile device.
